Abstract
Compared with feeding a prepared formula for 12 months, introducing fresh cow's milk into the infant's diet at 2 months of age is associated with a significant degree of microcytosis, ferropenia, and minimal anemia in a group of infants having the same iron intake. This study suggests that factors in the diet other than the amount of iron are important in the etiology of iron deficiency. Keywords
