Abstract
No change in electrical activity of cortex could be detected in 4 cats, 2 dogs and one rat after immediate or prolonged admn. of dithiobiuret. Dithiobiuret was applied to cortex or injected intramusc. and intraven. for immediate observations, while it was given orally or intramusc. for observations at a later date. Cortical threshold to electrically induced convulsions was detd. in 12 rats before, during and after admn. of dithiobiuret given orally or intraperit. in 0.001 and 0.002% soln. The cortical threshold was significantly raised by an avg. of approx. 26 volts, but only after severe toxic changes, of an ascending spinal paralysis, were noted in the animals. The form of convulsion changed as the animals became intoxicated . All evidence points to a site of action within the efferent system of the spinal cord. Keywords
