DEVELOPMENTAL CHANGES IN THE EXPRESSION AND DISTRIBUTION OF CELLULAR RETINOIC ACID BINDING PROTEIN (CRABP) IN THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM OF THE CHICK EMBRYO

Abstract
A large amount of cellular retinoic acid binding protein (CRABP), by which the action of retinoic acid is mediated, was present in the central nervous system as well as limb buds in the early developmental stages of chick embryo. The expression of CRABP in the brain was developmentally changed. The highest level of CRABP expression occurred during stages 22-28 and it gradually dispappeared thereafter. By stages 38-43, CRABP was not detected in the brain. At stage 25, CRABP was intensely expressed on both sides on the neural tubes where neuroblast cells proliferate and differentiate. The localization and the expression of CRABP in the central nervous system in the early developmental stages of chick embryo suggest the possibility that retinoic acid is involved in the differentiation and growth of neuronal cells during the development.This publication has 20 references indexed in Scilit:
