Abstract
Further studies confirm earlier findings that for most bacterial spp. semicarbazide is less bac-teriostatic than hydroxylamine. Use of either agent in sterility tests of conc. streptomycin solns., however, may lead to false negative findings. Three strains of microorganisms have been isolated from streptomycin solns. which failed to grow out from similar material inactivated with either car-bonyl reagent. Demonstration of psychrophilic organisms in streptomycin suggests the need for incubating sterility tests at more than one temp. Keywords
