Abstract
Using Brillouin scattering of a 6328 Å He–Ne laser beam, we have investigated the properties of acoustic shear waves generated in high‐resistivity, photoconducting CdS in high electric fields. The data were analyzed using modifications to the Bragg law valid for birefringent materials. The frequency of maximum acoustic intensity varied as the square‐root of carrier concentration from 150 MHz to 375 MHz.Keywords
