Abstract
After adm. of d,l-O,N-dimethyl-tyrosin, the rabbit eliminates the [alpha]-acid unchanged and the l-acid as p-methoxyphenyl-pyruvic acid. Whether the N-methyl group is broken off first and the p-methoxy-phenyl-alanin thus formed then undergoes deami-nation, or the endproduct is formed directly by oxidative demethylamination is not clear. In the dog all of the dimethyl-tyrosin is excreted unchanged.
