Abstract
Esterification of 2.2′-bipyridine-5,5′- and 4,4′-dicarboxylic acids with 4-alkoxyphenols leads to new mesomorphic bipyridine esters which are subsequently complexed with various metals. The synthesis and properties of these compounds are discussed. Keywords
