Environmental Preferences of Future Housing Consumers

Abstract
This paper reports and analyzes a survey measuring preferences toward a variety of housing environments among urban youth from a cross-section of social and economic backgrounds. Responses are broken down by race, ethnicity, economic level, and type of housing presently occupied. Although the results show specific differences among socioeconomic groupings, there is no indication of any real rejection of current housing patterns. Implications of these findings for future housing policy are outlined.
