Abstract
The influence of olive oil, peanut oil, paraffin oil, and cyclohexane on the imaginal differentiation of the flesh fly Sarcophaga barbataOlive oil, peanut oil, paraffin oil and cyclohexane do not affect metamorphosis of the flesh fly Sarcophaga barbata if applied topically to the postfeeding larva and the white puparium respectively. However, the substances partially or completely inhibit the further development of the fly if applied topically or injected into pupae or pharate adults. Therefore they do not appear to be suitable solvents for the injection or application of juvenoids.Zusammenfassung: Oliven‐, Erdnuß‐ und Paraffinöl sowie Cyclohexan beeinträchtigen die Metamorphose der Fleischfliege Sarcophaga barbata nicht, wenn sie Larven des 3. Stadiums oder weißen Puparien appliziert werden. Diese Substanzen hemmen jedoch die weitere Entwicklung der Fliegen teilweise oder ganz, wenn sie Puppen oder pharaten Imagines appliziert bzw. injiziert werden. Sie erscheinen daher nicht als Lösungsmittel zur Injektion oder Applikation von Juvenoiden geeignet.
