Abstract
The topical and repeated instillation of 0.1% dexamethasone to rabbit eyes with rejecting corneal grafts decreased the number of leukocytic endothelial infiltration. The endothelium of these grafts was examined with the scanning electron microscope and revealed a diminished number of lymphocytes when compared to controls. There were lymphocytes in various stages of destruction and cell residues among regenerating endothelial cells. The lympholytic effect of topically applied steroids explains the rapid disappearance of inflammatory cells from the corneal endothelium. Keywords
