Abstract
Ureide analyses of soybean (Glycine max L.) tissues were accomplished with a modified and simplified automated analysis used to determine allantoin concentration in rat urine. The length of the circuit and flow rates of the solutions were reduced, and NaOH was used for color development at room temperature. Keto-acids did not significantly interfere with the determinations of ureides except for glyoxylic acid in extracts of fresh soybean tissue. The interference caused by glyoxylic acid was avoided by adding phenylhydrazine HCl to the solution of NaOH used for alkaline hydrolysis of allantoin. Keywords
