Abstract
Effect of P2 protein purified from bovine peripheral nerve myelin on a tumor cell line (Ehrlich ascites mammary carcinoma) was studied. P2 protein suppressed the proliferation of this cell line when added to the culture medium. Several proteins homologous to P2 in their amino acid sequences are known to suppress the growth of tumor cell lines. Our results suggest that proteins in the fatty acid-binding protein family in general including P2 may have inhibitory effect on the tumor cell proliferation. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
