Abstract
H/u curves for columns of increasing internal diameter are shown to be useful for evaluating their LC performance. In particular, the H/u curve reveals whether the packing technique or the packing material is defective. H/u curves for very large internal diameter columns show deviations which result from friction heat and thermal expansion of the column tubing, creating a void at the column wall. Keywords
