Abstract
The reduction of a connection form ρ from a fiber bundle P to a subbundle Q is examined in detail; defining generalized torsion forms, we show how the usual Maurer–Cartan structural equations have to be modified. Examples and applications to classical general relativity and gauge theories are outlined. Keywords
