Abstract
The excellent results obtained in a very short time with griseofulvin in superficial mycoses and its failure in chromoblastomycosis and in coccidioidomycosis have been recorded in many reports since January, 1959. Since then a total of 155 cases in 114 patients have been treated with griseofulvin by us, with good results in superficial mycoses. The duration of treatment and the dosage of the drug varied according to the age and weight of the patient and to the extent and chronicity of the conditions treated. Dosage varied between 250 mg. in children and 1,500 mg. daily in adults, seldom more than 1,000 mg. Three to four weeks were sufficient to cure superficial dermatophytoses of the glabrous skin, one to two months in cases of tinea of the scalp, dermatophytoses of the feet, and tinea cruris, and four to five months for tinea of the nails.
