Abstract
In Dec. 1979, 97 patients underwent intracapsular cataract extraction under local anesthetic with planned discharge on the day after operation. Of these patients, 23 had a prolonged stay in hospital: 5 required early operative intervention following surgical complications. Patients (16) did not attain a visual acuity better than 6/18. The visual outcome and postoperative course are compared with those of a similar group of patients who stayed in the hospital for 5 days after intracapsular cataract extraction. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
