Abstract
Regular blood donors in Germany still have a high risk to become iron-deficient. Without consequent iron substitution the development of depleted iron stores is almost unavoidable. A practicable way out of this dilemma is to combine each blood donation with the supply of an adequate iron medication (20 tablets of lOOmg ferro iron). In addition, a more detailed and individual information on the respective iron status would be helpful to increase the compliance of the donors. Keywords
