Abstract
Glucagon (1 mg) was given s.c. to 8 patients with active acromegaly. Seven of 8 patients had a rapid decrease in serum growth hormone (GH) levels at 30 min after the glucagon injection. In 2 of 7 patients a rebound increase in serum GH following the early GH reduction was observed. Oral administration of 50 g glucose which caused an increase in blood glucose comparable to that after the glucagon injection elicited no early suppression in serum GH levels. The inhibition of GH release induced by glucagon could not be related to the increase in blood glucose due to glucagon. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
