Abstract
A simple method for reconstructing the local density of states from a truncated continued fraction is presented. This method which is based on the maximum-entropy solution of the problem of moments requires no further information except for the recursion coefficients. An efficient numerical procedure is described and the results of the method are illustrated with several examples. Keywords
