Abstract
A generalized water-surface profile is presented for hydraulic jumps formed in smooth and horizontal rectangular channels. The vertical scale is equal to 0.75 times the height of the jump, and the dimensionless horizontal scale is related to the supercritical Froude number. The above profile has been found to agree well with the experimental data of Bakhmeteff and Matzke and others. Keywords
