Vertebral Angiography as a Cause of Necrosis of the Cervical Spinal Cord

Abstract
A case of necrosis of the cervical spinal cord produced by vertebral angiography via the subclavian artery is described. The injection through the subclavian artery was made as usual with a highly concentrated (55 per cent) contrast medium; a large quantity of this had probably been carried into the arterial network of the cord due to a particular pattern of the arterial branches in the neck or to casual direction of the injected stream.
