Abstract
A useful measure of the importance of a given parameter in an inverse problem is the standardized partial derivative, which is scaled by the a priori uncertainty of the parameter in question. Because the density distribution in the upper mantle is poorly known, the a priori uncertainty for density is rather large; thus density must generally be considered as a variable in the inversion of surface wave phase velocity data. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
