Abstract
Protoplasts that remained metabolically active for several days were obtained by treating cells of Microcystis aeruginosa, Anacystis nidulans, and Anabaena flos-aquae with lysozyme. Photosynthetic and respiratory rates were near those of control cells. Lysozymeresistant cells were isolated which may be genetic mutants.Keywords
