Abstract
Gastrointestinal bleeding and bleeding from thoracotomy incisions were induced in 19 dogs that were cooled by immersion in an ice bath. A smaller control group under identical experimental conditions was not cooled. In the hypothermic animals the total leukocyte count decreased 86% below the pre-experiment level, the total eosinophil count 86%, and the platelet count 82%.Keywords
