Abstract
Ten consonant sounds were tested, using 20 males and 20 females over 18 yrs. of age, with a mean male age of 27.85 and a mean female age of 23.55. Each of the 10 syllables was then practiced for a 3-sec. period in the order given on a card. When this was accomplished, the 1st syllable was practiced for another 3-sec. period and then a 7-sec. period of this syllabic repetition was recorded. Each of the 10 syllables was presented an equal no. of times in each of the 10 possible positions. Males were significantly faster than females. With the exception of (k) and (g), there is relative agreement between the diadochokinetic rank order and the developmental order of consonants in children''s speech. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
