Resistance of Wild Helianthus Species to an Aphid, Masonaphis masoni

Abstract
Seven perennial species of wild Helianthus screened in the laboratory for resistance to the aphid Masonaphis masoni (Knowlton) were significantly (5% level) more resistant to M. masoni than either 5 wild annual species or ‘Hybrid 896’. Mortality of M. masoni was 100% on H. x laetiflorus Pers., and H. tuberosus L.
