Abstract
A spectroscopic study of a microwave-excited argon discharge showed that the emission spectrum is rich in Ar+lines, suggesting a possibility of attaining laser action in microwave discharges. Laser action was observed in a modified TR tube configuration in a discharge tube of relatively large diameter. The average RF power absorbed in the plasma was less than 20 W.Keywords
