Abstract
We have seen no report in the literature indicating that insects are able to acquire suflScient resistance to prevent the effective use of the organic phosphorus insecticides such as parathion. For this reason, and also because of the great toxicity of many of these materials to higher animals, at a number of laboratories a search has been made for related chemicals that will retain high insect toxicity but be much less toxic to warm-blooded animals. As a result of such research 0,0-dimethyl-2,2,2-tricbloro- 1-hydroxyethyl-phosphonate, commonly called Bayer L 18/59, has been introduced as an insecticide. Keywords
