Abstract
The probability of the occurrence of a time lag in a counter discharge is expressed in terms of the probability of capture of an electron by an oxygen molecule. The capture probability is shown to be independent of the number of electrons produced and to correspond to a value for the capture cross section in agreement with direct determinations. Keywords
