Abstract
One‐day Symposium on “New Information on Finishing Processes” held by the Manchester Section at the Manchester College of Science and Technology on 21st March 1958, Mr. J. W. Reidy in the chairRecent developments in the application of silicones to textiles are discussed. Advantages as well as shortcomings of treatments from organic‐solvent solutions and aqueous emulsions are outlined. The importance to the industry of low‐temperature‐curing silicone compositions is stressed, and the function of organo‐metallic titanium compounds in bringing about low‐temperature catalysis is explained.
