Abstract
The ultrastructure of the salt gland of Frankenia has been investigated. Glands were examined after treatment with distilled water and after 4 h, 15 h, and 36 h of salt treatment. Characteristic cytoplasmic features can be correlated with each of these treatments. The results suggest that the acquisition and maintenance of the secreting state involves the vesiculation of endoplasmic reticulum. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
