Abstract
Investigations of the absorption spectra of polypeptides and proteins in aqueous solution in the 185-240 mu. region indicate that polypeptides in the a-helical form show a large hypochromic effect which is also observed in proteins. The absorption spectra associated with the [beta]-form differ from these. Keywords
