Abstract
The clinical findings in the case of a 23-year old woman suffering from zoster myelitis are reported here. The main symptom was hypaesthesia up to the level of the fourth thoracic segment. Diagnosis was based on the demonstration of locally synthesized zoster antibodies by an ELISA. Therefore the diagnosis of a zoster myelitis was made. Diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of the disease are discussed with special emphasis on differentiation against multiple sclerosis.
