Abstract
Culture of human blood monocytes in the presence of hydrocortisone results in the production of a factor which stimulates the migration of polymorphs in vitro. Steroid-treated lymphocytes do not produce this factor. This phenomenon may be relevant to the in vivo effects of hydrocortisone on polymorph kinetics and immunological responsiveness, and may relate to the granulocyte colony-stimulating factor also produced by monocytes.
