Abstract
Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) and polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) are ultra-hard materials. There are many product forms and grades in the PCD and PCBN families. For PCD, applications range from cutting tools for abrasive non-ferrous metals and plastics to wear parts. PCBN finds applications in the machining of fully hardened tool steels and hard cast irons. This paper reviews the manufacture of PCD and PCBN materials and highlights some of their many applications. Keywords
