Abstract
A new modification of Allen''s color reaction, with certain advantages over other methods reported, is described for the determination of urinary testosterone. Isolation and good recovery are achieved by using column chromatography only. The location of testosterone in the chromatographic fractions was verified using 1, 2-H3-testosterone. This color reaction is shown to be sensitive, specific and reproducible. This process has been used to establish the amount of testosterone in the urine of a variety of subjects. Keywords
