Dermatitis Herpetiformis Duhring in a Patient with Carcinoma of the Prostate

Abstract
A patient with carcinoma of the prostate, who developed in the second year of his disease a dermatitis herpetiformis, is described. After a treatment with Madribon and Honvan, the skin eruption disappeared, but an intense pruritus remained. No medicament could be proved as a causative agent of the dermatosis. It is concluded that the skin changes are due to a toxi-allergic reaction in the skin. The possible importance of hormonal disturbances and natrium chloride retention in the skin are discussed.
