Abstract
Cerebron isolated from pig brain was methylated to hexa-methylcerebron. Analysis of the products of hydrolysis of the methyl derivative suggested that cerebron has a glucosidic linkage between galactose and sphingosine at the C1 position of sphingosine. On the basis of oxidation of o-methyl sphingosine with lead tetraacetate it was concluded that the 2 OH groups are attached to the C1 and C3 of sphingosine, and the amino group to C2.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
