Thinness, Delayed Menarche, and Irregular Cycles

Abstract
To the Editor: We wish to report additional evidence about the association among excessive thinness, delayed menarche, and irregular menstrual cycles discussed by Frisch et al. and by Fishman in the July 3, 1980, issue.1 , 2 The evidence stems from reexamination of data collected during an epidemiologic survey in an open population. The survey, undertaken to determine the prevalence of a number of chronic diseases and their risk factors, was conducted between 1975 and 1978 in the town of Zoetermeer, a rapidly growing suburb near The Hague, Holland.
