High transverse momenta observed in air shower cores

Abstract
Evidence is presented from many sources for the occurrence of very high transverse momenta at energies above 1014 eV. These very high transverse momenta indicate the operation of a super-strong force. Detailed results are given of the last three years of operation of the Sydney 64-scintillator array and of Monte Carlo simulations of air showers. These are compared with the authors' earlier results and the results of other groups from 1953-70.
