Abstract
A new, continuous subdivided readout system for large area position sensitive thermal neutron detectors is described. The centroid of induced charge is determined by convolution of the multiplexed subdivision outputs with a linear centroid finding filter. The position output is a continuous linear function of the particle position over the whole length of the detector. The method is shown to have high position resolution with a small signal (avalanche size), very high inherent position accuracy and linearity and a short total processing time. Keywords
