Successful Treatment of Systemic Chromobacterium violaceum Infection

Abstract
Sepsis followed a breast abscess in an otherwise healthy young adult. Cultures of the abscess yielded pure growth of Chromobacterium violaceum. Initiation of specific antibiotic therapy shortly after the onset of sepsis resulted in recovery. (JAMA 230:578-580, 1974)
