Abstract
The present study examined how changes in social support and the maintenance of a specific level of social support affected individuals' adjustment to AIDS. Results indicated that individuals who perceived that they had an increase in social support and persons who had a stable, high level of support reported better adjustment than did persons who perceived that they had a reduction in their support. Implications of these findings for professionals working with persons with AIDS are discussed. Keywords
