Abstract
Although the reaction of aromatic compounds with allylic chlorides using ZnCl2/SiO2 gives 2-chloro-1-arylalkanes accompanied with diarylalkanes, similar reaction using ZnCl2/SiO2–K2CO3/Al2O3 produces the monoallylated compound as the major product in good yield. Keywords
