Abstract
A policy of using local anesthesia whenever possible for the repair of inguinal hernias [in humans] was adopted in Seychelles primarily because a constant supply of anesthetic gases could not be depended upon. The technique adopted is described and the results obtained over an 18 mo. period are reported. Local anesthesia for this operation has many advantages and few disadvantages and is now preferred to general anesthesia except when contraindicated by special circumstances. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
