Abstract
The m2 values of ordinary mesons (u, d, s quarks only) are organized into linear sequences that correspond to a radial excitation integer N. The slope of these sequences is universal to within about 10%, dm2/dN ≈ 1.06 Gev2, which to first order equals the slope dm2/dJ of the leading Regge trajectory. In the region m2 < 5 GeV2 there are good though not yet conclusive indications of 1-to-1 correspondence between observed resonances and the simplest [qbar]q model. Keywords
