Abstract
The partial molal enthalpy (ΔHsm), entropy (ΔSsm), and free energy (ΔGsm) of solution are reported for the following functional groups: -CH2-, -CH3, -CHO, = O, -OC(O)H, -OC(O)CH3 and -O-. These values are reported on 75 liquid phases using 50 solutes. The ΔGsm values for the functional groups are used to rank the selectivities of the liquid phases toward each functional group. Additionally, the ΔHsm and ΔSsm values are used to predict retention data for various solutes. Keywords
