Abstract
Albian-Cenomanian deposits of the Barreirinhas Basin, State of Maranhäo, Brazil, have been examined palynologically. Some selected palynomorphs such as Galeacornea causea, elatere-bearing species, angios-permous pollen grains and others are compared with their occurrences in Africa and the Middle East. The conclusions obtained strongly corroborate the hypothesis of a post-Cenomanian continental displacement ; this result rectifies palaeomagnetic interpretations.
