Abstract
This article describes an approach to teaching undergraduate anthropology focused on anthropological modes of thought rather than accumulation of exotic data. The guiding paradigm is that of reflexivity as derived from recent theoretical work; the central technique is use of a journal focused on relating classroom material to the students' daily lives. The ultimate aim is to teach the students to be participant‐observers in their own cultures. REFLEXIVE METHODS, TEACHING ANTHROPOLOGY, PARTICIPANT‐OBSERVATION
