USE OF NEON AS A NONLINEAR ABSORBER FOR MODE LOCKING A He–Ne LASER

Abstract

We find that a tube of pure Ne²⁰, excited by a discharge and placed within the cavity of a He³–Ne²⁰ laser operating at 6328 Å can cause a stable, continuous train of short optical pulses to be produced.
